Chae Soo-Gyung

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop ¡°the elderly play therapy program using therapeutic activities¡± for the elderly who have suffered from stroke as a chronic illness, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the program. The program was conducted for 10 weeks, once a week, for 60 minutes in each session, from March 2015 through June 2015. The pre-and post-treatment data collection on the assessment of physical function was carried out, and a Survey was of conducted to evaluate the contents of the program through follow-up interviews. The result of the test on program effectiveness show the program was statistically significant in terms of depression and ADL(p<.000), but not significant in the upper extremity function. It is also meaningful to discover that as for contents of the play therapy program, physical activity and task activity should be composed of simple activities of daily living. Therefore, there is a need to develop various treatment programs and services for the chronic patients in the local public health center.
